Softball Recap: Indiana Has No Trouble Against Valley

Indiana never let their opponents score on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 16-0 margin over the Valley Vikings. That looming 16-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Little Indians yet this season.

Kaylee Cass made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Those six strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run.

In other batting news, Indiana got a massive performance out of Maggie Cunningham, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI Cunningham has posted since back in March. Addie Stossel was another key player, going 1-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one double.

Indiana hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in four consecutive games.

Indiana pushed their record up to 6-8 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Valley, they are on a ten-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-9.

Looking ahead, Indiana will head out to square off against Knoch at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Knights will roll in looking for their 12th straight victory, something the Little Indians surely won't give up without a fight. As for Valley, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Highlands at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
