Softball Recap: Garden City's Loss Ends Five-Game Winning Streak at Home

Garden City dropped their record down to 5-2 on Thursday, which also ended the team's five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season. They lost 16-4 to the Great Bend Panthers. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Buffaloes have suffered since May 9, 2024.

Garden City saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Anabelle Castillio, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run. Josslynn George also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

As for Great Bend, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 17-3. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won 11 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

On Great Bend's side, they got a massive performance out of Alyssa McCauley, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those four hits gave McCauley a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of DeShawnna Bryant, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles.

While Garden City had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
