Soccer Game Preview: Clinton vs. Southwest Onslow

Southwest Onslow will be up against a hot Clinton squad: the team just extended their winning streak to four. The Dark Horses never let Heide Trask get on the board and left with a 9-0 win on Wednesday. The result was nothing new for Clinton, who have now won ten matches by three goals or more so far this season.

Their offense was hitting Heide Trask from everywhere, as six different players booted in a goal. Chris Zelaya led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for two goals all by himself.

Meanwhile, it may have taken extra minutes to finish the job, but Southwest Onslow ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged out South Lenoir 4-3. The victory continues a trend for Southwest Onslow in their matchups with South Lenoir: they've now won six in a row.

Southwest Onslow's win bumped their record up to 3-9. As for Clinton, their victory bumped their record up to 14-2.

Clinton took their win against Southwest Onslow in their previous meeting back in October of 2023 by a conclusive 8-0 score. Will the Dark Horses repeat their success, or do the Stallions have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
