Baseball Recap: Five Straight Home Wins for Tokay

Tokay proved they can win big last Saturday (they won by 17) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past the Bear Creek Bruins 3-1. The Tigers haven't had any issues with the Bruins recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Paul Buckley spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up nine Ks. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Brock Sell was excellent, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3. He is becoming a predictor of Tokay's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 5-2 (and 4-7 when he doesn't).

Tokay's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-9. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for Bear Creek, the defeat snapped their winning streak at five games and leaves them with a 10-10 record.

Tokay will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Bruins: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
