Baseball Recap: Madison Bulldogs vs. Spruce Mountain Phoenix
Madison was the 20-13 winner over Spruce Mountain when they last played one another back in May of 2025, but their luck changed this time around. The Bulldogs took a 9-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Phoenix on Monday. The Bulldogs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Jayden Horton put in work while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 2.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. What's more, he gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in June of 2025. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.
Horton wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Kamdyn Norton, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Colby Solberg also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.
Madison's defeat dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Spruce Mountain, their record now sits at 2-5.
Coming up, Madison will square off against Maranacook at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Spruce Mountain, they will face off against Traip at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
