Basketball Recap: Winston Salem Christian Comes Up Short

Winston Salem Christian has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 83-79 heartbreaker at the hands of the Mount Zion Christian Academy Mighty Warriors. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Lions came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 57th, while the Mighty Warriors are ranked 254th).

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Mount Zion Christian Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Chris Walker, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 boards. Walker is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: he's pulled down at least nine every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Bryce Long, who went 7 of 8 en route to 23 points.

Winston Salem Christian's loss dropped their record down to 10-5. As for Mount Zion Christian Academy, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-8.

Winston Salem Christian and Lab University Prep Regional will face off at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday without much rest having both just played. Mount Zion Christian Academy has already played their next game (against Discovery Charter School), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
