Softball Recap: Jefferson Yellowjackets vs. Tri-Center Trojans
Jefferson was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their 12th straight loss. They fell 7-4 to the Tri-Center Trojans. The Yellowjackets were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Trojans apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in June of 2025.
Emily Loots spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and six unearned) runs on three hits and racked up eight Ks.
On the hitting side, Cierra Wieland made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. Addison Minturn also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
Jefferson's loss dropped their record down to 2-16. As for Tri-Center, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-9.
Jefferson didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 16-8 defeat against Sioux City East on the 18th. Tri-Center has also already played their next matchup (against Boyer Valley), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
