Softball Preview: Bishop Montgomery Knights vs. Wiseburn- Da Vinci Wolves
Bishop Montgomery is 7-1 against Wiseburn- Da Vinci since April of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Monday. The Bishop Montgomery Knights will head out on the road to take on the Wiseburn- Da Vinci Wolves at 4:30 p.m. Bishop Montgomery will be strutting in after a win while Wiseburn- Da Vinci will be coming in after a loss.
Last Thursday, Bishop Montgomery sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 victory over St. Monica. The win was just what Bishop Montgomery needed coming off of an 11-1 defeat in their prior match.
Clara Wilcox tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over six innings pitched.
On the hitting side, Bailey Solheim was excellent, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and a double. The team also got some help courtesy of Emily Laralin, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, Wiseburn- Da Vinci fell victim to North and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They wound up on the wrong side of a rough 9-0 walloping at the hands of the Saxons. Wiseburn- Da Vinci has not had much luck with North recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Bishop Montgomery's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-8. As for Wiseburn- Da Vinci, they now have a losing record at 10-11-1.
Bishop Montgomery took their win against Wiseburn- Da Vinci in their previous matchup back in February of 2023 by a conclusive 9-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for Bishop Montgomery since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
