Baseball Game Preview: Triumph Charter Jaguars vs. Sun Valley Magnet Pioneers

Triumph Charter is 0-4 against Sun Valley Magnet since May of 2023 but things could change on Friday. The Jaguars will host the Pioneers at 2:00 p.m. Triumph Charter knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with ten runs or more in their past three games -- so hopefully Sun Valley Magnet likes a good challenge.

Triumph Charter took a loss when they played away from home last Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed last Tuesday. They never let Discovery get on the board and left with a 23-0 victory. The Jaguars haven't had any issues with the Warriors recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.

Gabriel Gonzales was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three stolen bases, and six RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Triumph Charter's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 5-2 (and 4-6 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Javier Herrera, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

Triumph Charter always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .641. They are a perfect 8-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Meanwhile, Sun Valley Magnet didn't have quite enough to beat Valor Academy on Monday and fell 4-3. The Pioneers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Sun Valley Magnet saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Manuel Baltazar, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Sun Valley Magnet's loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 7-1 and their overall record down to 7-6. As for Triumph Charter, they now have a winning record of 9-8.
