Football Game Preview: Evans Knights vs. Statesboro Blue Devils + Official Tickets

The Evans Knights will square off against the Statesboro Blue Devils at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Evans has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the matchup with four straight defeats, while Statesboro will come in with three straight victories.

Evans' offense might be in the hot seat on Friday considering what happened against Effingham County on Friday. They were dealt a 36-0 loss at the hands of the Rebels. While losing is never fun, the Knights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 290th, while the Rebels are ranked 103rd).

Meanwhile, Statesboro was able to grind out a solid win over Brunswick on Friday, taking the game 28-21. That's two games straight that the Blue Devils have won by exactly seven points.

Evans better keep an eye on Keon Childers. He was instrumental in Statesboro's win, rushing for 76 yards and four touchdowns, while also picking up 71 receiving yards. Childers really caught the secondary sleeping when he pulled down a catch that went for 71 yards. Another player making a difference was Gage Newsome, who rushed for 113 yards.

Statesboro was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 265 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 157 rushing yards in five consecutive contests.

On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Statesboro's defense and their three sacks. In fact, those sacks all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Cam Jackson.

Evans' defeat dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Statesboro, their victory bumped their record up to 5-2.
