Softball Recap: Roby Gets the Win

Roby's game back in March was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They walked away with a 10-5 win over the Sweetwater Mustangs. The high-scoring effort was just what the Lions needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.

Calie Hernandez was a standout: she scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-1. Hernandez is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season. Another player making a difference was Kailyn Shipp, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in both of her plate appearances.

Roby always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .895. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Roby now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Sweetwater, their loss dropped their record down to 9-12-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight will be fought as Roby Lions face off against Hermleigh Cardinals at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hermleigh will roll in looking for their 14th straight victory, something Roby surely won't give up without a fight. As for Sweetwater, they will take on Lubbock Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
