Softball Recap: Gilmour Academy Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Gilmour Academy extended their winning streak to three on Thursday, bumping them up to 13-4. They were the clear victors by a 9-2 margin over the Geneva Eagles. Considering the Lancers have won nine matchups by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Camden Dreiling spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on seven hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 14 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Ava Gundling was a standout: she fired off two home runs and five RBI while going 2-for-4. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2025. Another player making a difference was Aiden Pike, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Gilmour Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 12 hits in seven consecutive contests.

As for Geneva, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-9. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat they have suffered since April 13th.

On Geneva's side, they saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ella Walker, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and two RBI.

Coming up, Gilmour Academy will be playing at home against West Geauga at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Geneva, they will host Hickory at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Eagles' pitcher better be ready for this one: the Hornets have averaged an impressive 8.4 runs per game this season.
