Recap: Atherton Ravens vs. Fairdale Bulldogs
The Atherton Ravens entered their tilt with the Fairdale Bulldogs with seven consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with eight. Atherton enjoyed a cozy 24-6 win over Fairdale on Friday. This was payback for Atherton, who suffered a 22-0 loss the last time these two teams met.
Atherton can attribute much of their success to Mike Curry, who rushed for 114 yards and three touchdowns.
Atherton's victory was their fourth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 9-1. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 2-7 Doss and 2-7 DuBois Academy (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 31.9% over those games). As for Fairdale, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-5.
Atherton will head out on the road to face off against Shelby County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Kentucky (Shelby County is ranked 84th, while Atherton is ranked 69th). As for Fairdale, they will be playing at home against Doss at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
