Baseball Game Preview: Upland Highlanders/Scots vs. Paloma Valley Wildcats

Upland is on a four-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Paloma Valley is on a 12-game streak of away wins (also dating back to last season): one of those streaks is about to end. The Upland Highlanders/Scots will take on the Paloma Valley Wildcats in a tournament on Saturday.

Upland saw some tournament action on Wednesday. They fell 6-2 to Ontario Christian.

Elliot Cresap was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Cresap was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run.

In other batting news, Dom Nava made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run. Another player making a difference was Ryan May, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Paloma Valley earned a 7-4 victory over Cajon on Tuesday. That's two games straight that the Wildcats have won by exactly three runs.

Upland's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Paloma Valley, their win bumped their record up to 2-0.

Upland skirted past Paloma Valley 2-1 when the teams last played back in February of 2023. Will Upland repeat their success, or does Paloma Valley have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
