Baseball Recap: Harrison County Extends Winning Streak to Three

Harrison County had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Holy Cross Indians a 4-0 shutout. That's more bragging rights for the Thorobreds/Fillies, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Not much got past Brian Vaughn, who gave up just three hits and racked up ten Ks to keep Holy Cross off the board. Those ten strikeouts gave Vaughn a new career-high.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Blake Green, who scored a run and stole three bases while going 1-for-2. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 1.2 stolen bases per game. Boston Reynolds was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.

Harrison County's win bumped their record up to 5-1-1. As for Holy Cross, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Harrison County will head out to face off against Powell County at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Harrison County is facing Powell County at the right time seeing as Powell County is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Holy Cross, they will take on Newport in a tournament on Friday.
