Basketball Game Preview: Harlan Falcons vs. Southland College Prep

Two dominant guards in Jameel Patterson and David Shaw are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Harlan Falcons will challenge Southland College Prep at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Last Wednesday, Harlan beat Lighthouse College Prep Academy 55-43.

Harlan relied on the efforts of Julius Jackson, who posted 20 points, and Patterson, who put up 18 points. Jackson is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Hezikiah Cooks, who scored eight points.

Meanwhile, Southland College Prep entered their game against Francis W. Parker on Tuesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. Southland College Prep took an 81-68 hit to the loss column at the hands of Francis W. Parker. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Wednesday (67), Southland College Prep still had to take the loss.

Harlan has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 4-6 record this season. As for Southland College Prep, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-5.

Harlan might still be hurting after the 61-35 defeat they got from Southland College Prep when the teams last played back in January of 2024. Can Harlan avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
