Softball Recap: Falls Lake Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Falls Lake's game last Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. They skirted past the Oxford Prep Griffins 7-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Firebirds have posted since March 21, 2024.

Wynterlee Glenn spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on eight hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in nine consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Jolie Sensenig was excellent, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3. She also brought in an RBI, marking her first of the season.

With the win, Falls Lake broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 5-8. As for Oxford Prep, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 7-1.

Falls Lake and Oxford Prep will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Firebirds are set to challenge their familiar foe Wake Prep Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Oxford Prep will face off against rival Roxboro Community at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
