Volleyball Game Preview: Owens Valley Cubs vs. Immanuel Christian Crusaders

Owens Valley hasn't had much luck against Immanuel Christian recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Cubs will head out to square off against the Crusaders at 5:00 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Owens Valley took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Saturday. They walked away with a 3-1 victory over Baker. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Cubs as it put an end to their three-match losing streak.

Meanwhile, Immanuel Christian made easy work of Trona on Wednesday and carried off a 3-0 victory.

While Immanuel Christian won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the second set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-21, 25-22, 25-12.

Owens Valley better focus on containing Brooke Horning and Ava Blakie as the pair were huge in Immanuel Christian's win. Horning had 14 digs, while Blakie had 25 digs, ten kills, and seven blocks. Blakie is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now had three or more in each of the last nine games she's played. Olivia Long also deserves some recognition as she had her first kill of the season.

Owens Valley's record is now 5-8-1. As for Immanuel Christian, their record now sits at 12-16.

Owens Valley beat Immanuel Christian 3-1 in their previous meeting back in September. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cubs since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
