Recap: Olympia Titans vs. Dr. Phillips Panthers
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Olympia Titans, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They had to suffer through a rough 78-32 loss at the hands of the Panthers. Olympia has struggled against Dr. Phillips recently, as their matchup on Wednesday was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
Olympia's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ava Pazos, who scored seven points along with five rebounds and three steals. Pazos has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last eight times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Arlinda Roundtree, who scored 15 points.
It was another big night for Trinity Turner, who almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine assists for Dr. Phillips. Turner hasn't dropped below three steals for nine straight games. Anilys Rolon was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Olympia's defeat dropped their record down to 10-13. As for Dr. Phillips, the win (which was their 14th in a row) raised their record to 21-4.
Olympia does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Dr. Phillips is on the road again on Friday and plays Oak Ridge on February 9th. Oak Ridge will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 56th, while Dr. Phillips is ranked sixth).
