Softball Recap: Granite Bay Has No Trouble Against Fernley

There's no place like home for Granite Bay, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They came out on top against the Fernley Vaqueros by a score of 7-3 on Saturday. The contest marked the Grizzlies' most dominant win of the season so far.

Cam Lincoln was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Lincoln was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Payton Castaneda was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-2. Those two hits gave her a new career-high. Alyssa Howell also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.

Granite Bay was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

The victory got Granite Bay back to even at 6-6. As for Fernley, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-6 record this season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Fernley beat Granite Bay by a score of 7-6 later that day.
