Baseball Game Preview: Conrad Chargers vs. Carter Cowboys

The Conrad Chargers are taking a road trip to take on the Carter Cowboys at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Conrad has given up an average of 10.9 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Last Friday, Conrad had just enough and edged out Lincoln 19-17. The Chargers haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Meanwhile, Carter had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They put the hurt on the Eagles with a sharp 18-8 victory.

Jeremiah Smith was a standout: he scored four runs and stole six bases while going 3-for-5. He has become a key player for Carter: the team is 4-2 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 1-11 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Sheared Brooks, who scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

Smith wasn't the only one making solid contact: Carter kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Carter's record now sits at 5-13. As for Conrad, they picked up their first home win, bumping their record up to 5-10.

Conrad might still be hurting after the 16-5 defeat they got from Carter when the teams last played back in March of 2022. Can the Chargers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
