Basketball Recap: Jarret Swift Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat North Lawndale

Proviso East lost to North Lawndale back in January of 2022, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Sunday. The Proviso East Pirates snuck past the North Lawndale Phoenix with a 71-67 victory.

Proviso East's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jarret Swift, who posted 21 points. That's the most points Swift has posted since back in January of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Jerry Johnson, who earned 20 points and eight rebounds.

The win got Proviso East back to even at 7-7. As for North Lawndale, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Proviso East will challenge Willowbrook at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for North Lawndale, they will square off against Bogan at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. North Lawndale is facing Bogan at the right time seeing as Bogan is stuck on a five-game losing streak.
