Basketball Game Preview: Sierra Chieftains vs. Yosemite Badgers

The Sierra Chieftains will venture away from home to challenge the Yosemite Badgers at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Sierra has four straight wins, Yosemite has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Sierra is headed into the matchup having just posted their biggest victory since December 27, 2024 on Friday. Everything went their way against Minarets as Sierra made off with a 55-35 win.

Meanwhile, Yosemite lost 57-35 to Fowler on Friday.

Sierra is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.0 points per game. As for Yosemite, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-16.

Everything came up roses for Sierra against Yosemite in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, as the squad secured an 80-42 victory. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Yosemite's Scott Phillips, who went 10 for 13 on his way to 25 points along with six boards and four steals. Now that he won't be playing on Tuesday, will it be easier for Sierra to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
