Football Recap: Marshall County Tigers vs. Columbia Central Lions
Marshall County gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 25-22 victory over the Columbia Central Lions. That's more bragging rights for the Tigers, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.
A big part of the win came down to the chemistry between Tyler Thompson and his top target Aja Jones. Thompson threw for 191 yards and three touchdowns while Jones picked up 128 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Jones was no stranger to the big play, lighting up the secondary with a catch that went for 64 yards.
Marshall County didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Jones, Jamahl Gentry, and Marcus O'Neal picked up one apiece.
Marshall County is headed away from home for the first time to square off against Shelbyville Central at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Columbia Central, they will take on Dickson County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
