Basketball Recap: Whitko Snags Ninth Victory in Last Ten Games

Whitko hadn't done well against Wawasee recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Whitko Wildcats came out on top against the Wawasee Warriors by a score of 63-53. That's more bragging rights for the Wildcats, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Whitko's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jayma Stonebraker, who went 5 for 8 on her way to 18 points in addition to eight assists and five rebounds. Those eight assists gave Stonebraker a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Reese Stonebraker, who went 8 of 17 en route to 18 points along with five assists and five boards.

When it comes to explaining why Wawasee lost, don't look at Ava Couture. Despite the final result, she went 8 for 17 on her way to 22 points and five rebounds. Molly Beer was another key player, putting up 11 points and four steals.

Whitko is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 17-4 record this season. As for Wawasee, they have also been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 13-9 record this season.

Whitko will take on Woodlan at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Woodlan comes in on four and Whitko on three. Wawasee does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
