Basketball Recap: St. Michael the Archangel Takes a Loss

St. Michael the Archangel and The Carmel School squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but St. Michael the Archangel had to settle for second. They took a 57-51 hit to the loss column at the hands of The Carmel School Wildcats. The Warriors were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Wildcats earlier this season, when they won 77-56.

Despite the loss, St. Michael the Archangel still got an impressive performance from Odita Aguolu, who went 9-for-18 en route to 27 points and six rebounds. Aguolu is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in each of the last five games he's played. Dezzie Ainsworth was another key player, putting up six points and ten boards.

St. Michael the Archangel's defeat dropped their record down to 19-9. As for The Carmel School, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 19-10.

St. Michael the Archangel does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for The Carmel School, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, an 83-57 loss against Fairfax Christian on the 1st.
