Basketball Recap: Highlands Ranch Takes Down Chaparral in a Playoff Battle

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Highlands Ranch had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They took their matchup with ease, bagging a 67-30 victory over the Chaparral Wolverines. The Falcons have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 contests by 23 points or more this season.

Ezra Simonich was her usual excellent self, shooting 75% from the field on her way to 25 points in addition to six rebounds and five assists. That's the most points she has posted since back in February of 2024. Jayda Rogers was another key player, going 7-for-10 to rack up 14 points along with six boards and three steals.

They weren't the only ones working in the assist department: Highlands Ranch was working as a unit and finished the game with 21 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in three consecutive games.

Several Wolverines players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Maddie Jenkins, who had 12 points. Another player making a difference was Lauren Thompson, who scored six points.

Highlands Ranch pushed their record up to 21-3 with the win, which was their third straight at home. As for Chaparral, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-11.

Coming up, Highlands Ranch will be playing at home against Cherokee Trail at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Highlands Ranch is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 62.5 points per game this season. Chaparral does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
