The Capuchino Mustangs will be taking part in a tournament against the Salinas Cowboys at 10:00 a.m. on Friday. Capuchino is coming into the match hot, having won their last six games.
Capuchino's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. Everything went their way against King's Academy as they made off with a 10-0 victory. The Mustangs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by seven runs or more this season.
Lola Sierra was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season.

In other batting news, Star Gutierrez was a standout: she went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. She is on a roll when it comes to RBI, as she's now brought in three or more in each of the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Avery Motroni, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.
Capuchino always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .645. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2024.
Meanwhile, Salinas fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Monterey on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Dores by a score of 4-2. The Cowboys' defeat signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.
Abi Jones spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on ten hits and racked up 13 Ks.
At the plate, Salinas saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gigi Rossi, who went 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Capuchino pushed their record up to 11-4 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.6 runs over those games. As for Salinas, their loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 9-4.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Friday. Capuchino hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.6 home runs per game. However, it's not like Salinas struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.5 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
