The big game is finally here. Super Bowl LI will pit the New England Patriots against the Atlanta Falcons Sunday in Houston and of course MaxPreps has the game covered from the high school angle with the prep alma maters of every player on the roster for each team.

Here are some fun facts surrounding the game:

- The Super Bowl is a homecoming of sorts for a handful of players. The following Patriots players played their prep ball at schools in the Houston area: Danny Amendola (The Woodlands), Cameron Fleming (Cypress Creek), Elandon Roberts (Houston Memorial) and Eric Rowe (Klein). LaAdrian Waddle is from Columbus, about 75 miles from Houston. For the Falcons, it's a homecoming for Jake Matthews (Fort Bend Elkins) and Derrick Shelby (Fort Bend Hightower). Matt Bryant played about 100 miles away at Bridge City.

- Local fans in the Atlanta area may be torn. David Andrews played his prep ball at Wesleyan (Norcross, Ga.) and now he's fighting for a Super Bowl title with the Patriots.

- It doesn't work exactly the same way with Falcons players with ties to the northeast. Dwight Freeney played his high school ball at Bloomfield (Conn.), about 100 miles form the Patriots' home stadium in Foxboro, Mass. Also, Matt Ryan played his high school ball at William Penn Charter (Philadelphia), but played in college at Boston College.

- When it comes to which state produces the most Super Bowl players, it's a three-way tie among states that fans would expect. California, Texas and Florida lead the way with 15 players each.

- Let's count Washington, D.C. as a state. In that situation, that means that 18 states do not have players in the Super Bowl.

- Michigan ranks No. 9 in population but has nobody going to the Super Bowl. Washington, at No. 13, is next, followed by Massachusetts at No. 14.

- Big props to Delaware, ranked 45th in population, but with two players.
