Recap: Lyndhurst Golden Bears vs. Hawthorne Bears
The Lyndhurst Golden Bears''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They took a 20-13 hit to the loss column at the hands of Hawthorne. Lyndhurst lost against Hawthorne in their previous head to head back in October of 2021, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 41-0 score last time.
Roddy Morinho and Shawn Bellenger certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Morinho rushed for 134 yards, while Bellenger only threw for 82 passing yards and failed to score a touchdown.
Hawthorne got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Cormac Smith out in front who rushed for 105 yards and a touchdown.
Lyndhurst now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Hawthorne, their win bumped their record up to 7-2.
Lyndhurst will head out on the road to face off against Newton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Newton will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak. As for Hawthorne, they will be playing in front of their home fans against New Milford at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
