Softball Game Preview: Wauseon Indians vs. Bryan Golden Bears

The Wauseon Indians are taking a road trip to square off against the Bryan Golden Bears at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Wauseon has given up an average of 9.6 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Bowling Green hit Wauseon with a seven-run fifth inning on Saturday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Indians came up short against the Bobcats, falling 12-1. The contest marked the Indians' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Meanwhile, after soaring to ten runs the game before, Bryan was a bit more limited in their game on Friday. They fell just short of Montpelier by a score of 2-1. That makes it the first time this season the Golden Bears have let down their home crowd.

Thea Staten spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up 13 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than ten strikeouts in 13 consecutive appearances.

Wauseon has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-9 record this season. As for Bryan, their loss dropped their record down to 11-4.

Wauseon couldn't quite finish off Bryan in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 and fell 5-3. Can the Indians avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
