If the McKinley Panthers were riding high off their 69-49 takedown of the Beau Chene Gators on Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. McKinley was beaten by Liberty Magnet 81-47 on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, McKinley can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 57th, while Liberty Magnet is ranked third).

Howard Gaskins Jr. was his usual excellent self, scoring 16 points along with 3 steals for Liberty Magnet. The match was Gaskins Jr.'s eighth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Malek Robinson, who scored 11 points along with 5 steals.

McKinley's defeat dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Liberty Magnet, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 7-1.

McKinley will be playing in front of their home fans against Scotlandville at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Scotlandville focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up eight on Monday. Liberty Magnet will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against New Iberia at 7:00 p.m. on December 7th. New Iberia will be coming into the contest with an undefeated record on the line.
