Baseball Recap: Kerman Wins Going Away Against San Luis Obispo

It was a proper cat-fight when Kerman faced off against San Luis Obispo on Saturday. Kerman put the hurt on San Luis Obispo with a sharp 9-3 win. The Lions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matchups by six runs or more this season.

Giovanni Gastelum made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Steven Luna, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in February. Langston Manha was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one RBI.

Kerman is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-3-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. San Luis Obispo dropped their record down to 4-6 with the loss, which was their third straight at home.

Looking ahead, Kerman will take on Washington Union at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Kerman 2.1, Washington Union 2.9) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for San Luis Obispo, they will venture away from home to challenge Atascadero at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
