Soccer Recap: Marian Catholic Takes a Loss

The Marian Catholic Spartans didn't have quite enough to beat the Middleton Cardinals on Friday and fell 3-2. While losing is never fun, Marian Catholic can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' soccer rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 332nd in Illinois, while Middleton are ranked 21st in Wisconsin).

Nyla Williams wasn't going to let Middleton walk away unscathed as she scored both of Marian Catholic's goals, bringing her season total up to 20 goals.

Marian Catholic has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-13-1 record this season. As for Middleton, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 8-1-3.

Marian Catholic wasted no time getting back out on the pitch and has already played their next game, a 3-0 loss against Oak Creek on the 10th. As for Middleton, they will challenge Madison East at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Middleton are facing Madison East at the right time seeing as Madison East are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
