Basketball Recap: South Plaquemines Takes a Loss

South Plaquemines was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat dating back to last season. They were outmatched by the De La Salle Cavalier and fell 84-45. The Hurricanes were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 53-24.

When it comes to explaining why South Plaquemines lost, don't look at Deanel McGee. Despite the final result, he made all 6 shots he took for 12 points. What's more, McGee also racked up three rebounds, the most he's had since back in December of 2023. Another player making a difference was Trevontae Williams, who posted eight points and seven rebounds.

South Plaquemines' record is now 0-7. As for De La Salle, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. South Plaquemines will venture away from home to face off against Tara at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for De La Salle, they will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Donaldsonville at 5:30 p.m. on January 10, 2025.
