Basketball Game Preview: Bayfield Trollers vs. Solon Springs Eagles

Bayfield is 2-8 against Solon Springs since December of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Bayfield Trollers will challenge the Solon Springs Eagles at 6:00 p.m. One thing working in Bayfield's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last five contests.

Last Saturday, Bayfield beat Fond du Lac Ojibwe O 68-55.

Bayfield can attribute much of their success to Quintin Bresette, who dropped a triple-double with 28 points, 15 boards, and ten assists, and Maxwell Gordon, who dropped a double-double with 20 points and 16 rebounds. The match was Bresette's tenth in a row with at least 18 points. Another player making a difference was Kayden LaGrew, who posted eight points.

Bayfield smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in five consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Solon Springs was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday as they fell 52-46 to Hurley.

Bayfield is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 82.0 points over those games. As for Solon Springs, their loss dropped their record down to 12-7.

Everything went Bayfield's way against Solon Springs in their previous meeting back in January, as Bayfield made off with an 81-61 win. Will Bayfield repeat their success, or does Solon Springs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
