Wakefield faced Leesville Road in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. The Wolverines never let the Pride get on the board and left with a 19-0 victory. The Wolverines' defense has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a point in their last three contests.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Wakefield to victory, but perhaps none more so than Quinn Pope, who threw for 159 yards and three TDs while completing 72.7% of her passes. 81 of Pope's passing yards were hauled in by Lyla Bagwell, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

Another reason for the win was Wakefield's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. In fact, those sacks all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Ali Plunkett. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one sack the last four times she's played.

Wakefield's record now sits at 6-0. As for Leesville Road, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-2.

Coincidentally, Wakefield and Leesville Road will both be playing Corinth Holders the next time they take the field. The Wolverines will host the Pirates at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, while the Pride will play them later in the day, at 7:00 p.m.
