Softball Recap: Point Loma Gets the Win

Point Loma hadn't done well against Mission Hills recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Point Loma Pointers sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 win over the Mission Hills Grizzlies. This was payback for the Pointers, who suffered a 6-3 loss the last time these two teams met.

Point Loma let Annika Isaacson and Sienna Balistreri run wild. Isaacson went 2-for-3 with one home run, two RBI, and one double, while Balistreri went 2-for-4 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. That double was Isaacson's first of the season.

Point Loma is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-2-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. This is the second loss in a row for Mission Hills and nudges their season record down to 4-2.

Coincidentally, Point Loma and Mission Hills will both be playing Mar Vista the next time they take the field. Point Loma will head out to face Mar Vista at 4:45 p.m. on Saturday, while Mission Hills will host them at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
