Baseball Recap: Plum Picks Up Ninth Consecutive Victory

Plum entered their tilt with Greater Latrobe on Monday with eight consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with nine. They never let the Wildcats get on the board and left with a 3-0 win. For the Mustangs, this counts as revenge for the 8-7 victory the Wildcats walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2021.

The result came thanks to Braden Kemmerer's shutout, as he gave up just two hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Timmy Ruggiero was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run and one stolen base. That home run was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Max Vollmer, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

Plum pushed their record up to 14-2 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Greater Latrobe, the defeat snapped their winning streak at five games and leaves them with a 14-5 record.

Plum will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Wildcats: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
