Baseball Game Preview: Redlands East Valley Wildcats vs. Yucaipa Thunderbirds

For the second straight game, Redlands East Valley will face off against Yucaipa. The Wildcats will be playing at home against the Thunderbirds at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Redlands East Valley is coming into the match hot, having won their last eight games.

The scorekeeper got an easy start on Tuesday as neither Redlands East Valley nor Yucaipa made it on the board until the fifth inning. The Wildcats won by a run and slipped past the Thunderbirds 4-3. Surprisingly, this marked the Wildcats' sixth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

For Yucaipa's part, they got a good showing from Blake McGilvary, who tossed 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. McGilvary has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Connor White was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one double. Damian Cordero was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Redlands East Valley's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-8. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Yucaipa, their loss dropped their record down to 14-8.
