Basketball Recap: Morton Snags Ninth Win in Last Ten Games

Morton won against Northeast Jones last Friday with 55 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Tuesday. The Morton Panthers took down the Mendenhall Tigers 55-36. The Panthers pushed the score to 46-16 by the end of the third, a deficit the Tigers cut but never quite recovered from.

Morton got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Mariona Boyd out in front who went 7 for 14 en route to 17 points. Another player making a difference was Charity Beemon, who posted 11 points in addition to five boards and three steals.

Morton is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season. As for Mendenhall, their loss dropped their record down to 9-9.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Morton will venture away from home to challenge Quitman at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Quitman comes in on four and Morton on five. As for Mendenhall, they will head out to take on Northeast Jones at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
