Basketball Recap: Freeman Takes a Loss

If Freeman was feeling good fresh off their 63-36 takedown of Corsica/Stickney last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Freeman Flyers took a 68-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of the St. Mary Cardinals on Saturday.

Despite the loss, Freeman still got an impressive performance from David Walter, who went 10-for-17 to rack up 28 points and eight rebounds. The contest was Walter's seventh in a row with at least 17 points. Luke Peters was another key player, putting up ten points in addition to five boards and five steals.

Freeman's defeat dropped their record down to 13-4. As for St. Mary, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Freeman will head out to take on Ethan at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Freeman knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 12 games -- so hopefully Ethan likes a good challenge. As for St. Mary, they are taking a road trip to square off against Centerville at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
