The Taylorville Tornadoes will square off against the Nokomis Redskins at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Taylorville is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.

Taylorville came into this matchup off a tough 18-run defeat on Saturday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of Warrensburg-Latham by a score of 5-3 on Monday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Tornadoes have suffered since May 21, 2024.

Peyton DeMicheal was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching six innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. DeMicheal was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. That stolen base marked the first that she snagged this season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Nokomis). They blew past Riverton 19-3 on Monday. The win was some much needed relief for the Redskins as it spelled an end to their seven-game losing streak.

Like Taylorville, Nokomis also got a great game from a two-way player: Cloey Dirks. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. Those ten strikeouts gave Dirks a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-4.

In other batting news, Nokomis got a massive performance out of Grace DeWerff, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 4-for-5. The dominant performance also gave DeWerff a new career-high in RBI (two). Faith Morrison was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.

Nokomis always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .532. They are 2-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

The victory was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 3-10. As for Taylorville, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-8.
