Florida high school football: Week 8 schedule, scores

Showdown between No. 6 Miami Central and No. 7 Norland headlines the action.

The high school football schedule in Florida features just one matchup between top 25 teams in the state as No. 6 Central (Miami) faces No. 7 Norland (Miami) at 7:30 p.m. on Friday night.

Norland comes into the anticipated meeting with a perfect 6-0 record and has outscored its opponents by 34.8 points per contest despite narrowly slipping past Booker T. Washington (Miami) 20-19 last week.

Miami Central has a pair of heartbreaking losses to nationally-ranked opponents, falling to No. 2 Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas, Nev.) 39-35 in its opener and No. 3 Chaminade-Madonna (Hollywood) 31-28 two weeks later.

Another game of intrigue in the state Friday night is a showdown that sees No. 4 Cocoa travel to unbeaten Titusville. Something has to give in the intriguing battle as Titusville has held its opponents to an average of 10.4 point per contest this season while Cocoa's high-powered offense is averaging 30.5 points per outing on year.

Four one-loss teams battle top 25 teams in the state as Southridge (Miami) travels to No. 17 Homestead, DeLand heads to No. 16 Seminole, No. 15 Coconut Creek hosts West Boca Raton and George Jenkins (Lakeland) battles No. 14 Lakeland.
