Football Recap: Dynamic Duo of Bryson Penson and Daxtin Edwards Lead Lafayette to Victory

LaFayette hadn't done well against Trion recently (they were 0-6 in their previous six matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Ramblers enjoyed a cozy 32-14 victory over the Bulldogs. This was payback for the Ramblers, who suffered a 50-21 defeat the last time these two teams met.

LaFayette was led to victory by Daxtin Edwards and Bryson Penson. Edwards threw for 111 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 85.7% of his passes, while Penson rushed for 22 yards and one touchdown. Those 111 passing yards gave Edwards a new career-high.

LaFayette didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off five passes before the game was over. It was a group effort, with five picking up one apiece. They got some further help from Andrew Huggins: he made nine total tackles (2.0 for loss) and defended two passes.

The win made it two in a row for LaFayette and bumps their season record up to 3-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 21 points in those games. As for Trion, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. LaFayette will take on Adairsville at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The matchup will give the Ramblers their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Trion, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Manchester at 7:30 p.m. on the 26th.
