Softball Game Preview: Conneaut Spartans vs. Grand Valley Mustangs

The Conneaut Spartans will venture away from home to challenge the Grand Valley Mustangs at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Conneaut is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.

Conneaut saw some tournament action on Thursday. They lost 15-5 to Jefferson Area.

Conneaut saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bella Young, who went 2-for-3 with five RBI and one double. Another was Vina Sanford, who got on base in two of her three plate appearances with two runs.

Meanwhile, Grand Valley didn't have quite enough to beat St. John on Wednesday and fell 6-4. The loss continues a trend for the Mustangs in their meetings with the Heralds: they've now lost four in a row.

Grand Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 6-15. As for Conneaut, their loss dropped their record down to 3-12.

Conneaut got the 'W' in their previous matchup back in May of 2025 against Grand Valley by a conclusive 11-5 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Spartans since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
