Football Game Preview: Keenan Raiders vs. Newberry Bulldogs

The Keenan Raiders will take on the Newberry Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The timing isn't great for Keenan: they have been struggling with three straight losses at home, while Newberry has snatched up six consecutive wins on the road dating back to last season.

Keenan got their first taste of in-conference action on Friday and they started things off strong. They came out on top against Fox Creek by a score of 28-21.

Hunter O'Neal was his usual excellent self, rushing for 122 yards and one TD on only 13 carries. He is becoming a predictor of Keenan's success: when he posts at least 80 rushing yards the team is 3-1 (and 0-5 when he doesn't).

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Keenan's defense and their four sacks. Tyreik Davenport-Smith was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two himself. He is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made five or more in each of the last eight games he's played. Keenan got some further help from Conrad Hamtpon: he picked up 1.5 sacks, forced one fumble, and made seven total tackles.

Meanwhile, Newberry's offense rose to the challenge against a Predators defense that boasted an average of only 14.29 points allowed last Friday. The Bulldogs breezed past Fox Creek to the tune of 41-14. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won six games by 23 points or more so far this season.

Keenan's win bumped their record up to 3-6. As for Newberry, their victory bumped their record up to 8-0.
