Football Recap: Cocoa Takes a Loss + How To Watch

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Cocoa can now relate to. They were dealt a 40-0 loss at the hands of the Cardinal Mooney Cougars on Friday. The contest marked the first time this season in which the Tigers were not able to get on the board.

Champ Smith threw for 191 yards on 19 of 33 attempts. Cayman Varis was his top target, picking up 69 receiving yards. On the ground, Javeon Scott rushed for 38 yards.

Connail Jackson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Cardinal Mooney, rushing for 289 yards and two scores while picking up 10.3 yards per carry. Jackson has been hot, having posted two or more rushing touchdowns the last six times he's played. Devin Mignery was another key player, throwing for 69 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

The defeat snapped Cocoa's winning streak at six games and leaves them with a 8-5 record. As for Cardinal Mooney, the win was the 12th in a row for them, bringing their record up to 13-1.

Cocoa does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Cardinal Mooney, they will challenge Bolles at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Cougars will need to watch out since the Bulldogs have now posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season.
