Basketball Recap: Scott Central Comes Up Short

After flying high against Puckett on Tuesday, Scott Central came back down to earth. The Rebels were outmatched by the Pelahatchie Chiefs and fell 62-34. The Rebels lost against the Chiefs in their previous head to head back in February of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 48-47 score last time.

Pelahatchie's win on Friday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Zion Grant, who posted 14 points and five assists. Laterrion Irvin was another key player, putting up 16 points.

Scott Central's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 7-10. As for Pelahatchie, they pushed their record up to 10-8 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Scott Central wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 52-50 victory against Newton on the 20th. As for Pelahatchie, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 77-58 defeat against Lanier on the 19th.
