Basketball Game Preview: Roaring Fork Rams vs. Cedaredge Bruins

The Roaring Fork Rams will face off against the Cedaredge Bruins at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Last Saturday, Roaring Fork was able to grind out a solid victory over Grand Valley, taking the game 63-51. Given the Rams' advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 110th, while the Cardinals are ranked 254th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Kiko Pena continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 20 points and 20 rebounds. Pena is crushing it when it comes to boards: he's pulled down at least 11 every time he's taken the court this season. Lucas Carballeira was another key player, going 7 of 14 on his way to 22 points.

Meanwhile, Cedaredge came up short against Olathe on Tuesday and fell 68-59. While the Bruins didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Pirates 14-9 in the first quarter.

Roaring Fork is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.3 points per game. As for Cedaredge, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-7 record this season.

Roaring Fork was able to grind out a solid win over Cedaredge when the teams last played back in February of 2024, winning 79-66. Does Roaring Fork have another victory up their sleeve, or will Cedaredge turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
